The Horizon Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Prairie View 80-42 at home. Winning may never get old, but Horizon sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Morgan Ives continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. That's the first time this season that she posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Natalie Thornton, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Defeat or not, Prairie View got some senior leadership from Celicia Robles and Paige Walker. Robles scored 23 points, while Walker. scored seven points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 54.8% of Prairie View's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Horizon's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Prairie View, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon will take on Loveland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Loveland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Horizon is ranked 11th). As for Prairie View, Prairie View and Fossil Ridge will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
