The Southeast Polk Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lincoln Railsplitters at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southeast Polk has 17 straight wins, Lincoln has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Southeast Polk faced Dowling Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Southeast Polk skirted past Dowling Catholic 37-34. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southeast Polk to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Moberly, who threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Claude Phillip was another key contributor, rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lincoln came up short against Marshalltown on Friday and fell 27-14.
Southeast Polk's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-4 Prairie and 6-4 Ames (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.7% over those games). As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
