Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ladysmith). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hayward Hurricanes on Friday, sneaking past 81-78. Given the Lumberjacks' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 401st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ladysmith pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Hayward, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ladysmith will welcome St. Croix Falls at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ladysmith's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Hayward, they will take on Cameron at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hayward has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
