The Mead Raiders will face off against the Parkview Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mead will be strutting in after a win, while Parkview Christian will be coming in after a loss.
On Tuesday, Mead narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Conestoga 2-1.
Mead had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 26-24.
Mead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hadley Havelka led the charge by getting 25 assists, five digs, and four aces. Another player making a difference was Aubree Broekemeier, who had 14 kills and 12 digs.
Meanwhile, Parkview Christian came up short against Heartland Christian on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Parkview Christian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final set scores came out to 20-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-19.
Mead will have to contain Morgan Perry as she made an impact in Parkview Christian's last game. She had eight digs, five aces, and two solo blocks. Tenley Ulrich was another key player, getting 14 digs and two solo blocks.
Mead is now 2-4, having gone 2-1 since their four-game losing streak ended. As for Parkview Christian, they have now lost 12 of their last 13 games at home. That leaves them at a 1-4 record this season.
