Baseball Recap: Stone Extends Winning Streak to Three

Stone extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 12-7. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the East Central Hornets. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 5-2 victory on Friday.

Stone let Brax Batson and Kellan Burge run wild. Batson went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Burge went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Batson has posted since back in February. Charley Paslay also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Stone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Central only posted a batting average of .226.

As for East Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs.

On East Central's side, Troy Driskell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Grant Vick, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Stone will face off against rival Vancleave at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, East Central is set to challenge their familiar foe Wayne County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
