The Fairview Yellowjackets's 23-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. The contest between Fairview and Columbia Academy wasn't particularly close, with Fairview falling 63-46. While losing is never fun, Fairview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Columbia Academy is ranked 60th).
Columbia Academy was led to victory by Jeremy Jackson and Griffin Cooper. Jackson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Cooper dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Jackson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Gabe Davenport, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Columbia Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairview will take on Montgomery Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Providence Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. One thing working in Providence Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
