Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McQueen). They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Galena Grizzlies on Saturday. The Lancers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 23, 2024 (when they won 14-1).
Violet Moyao made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Moyao was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, McQueen got a massive performance out of Vanessa Bein, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Ashlyn Guber was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
McQueen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matches.
McQueen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Galena, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17-1.
