Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Central should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on West Essex at 7:00 PM. West Essex will be strutting in after a win while Central will be stumbling in from a defeat.
After a dominant victory in their contest two weeks ago, Central were humbled last week. They took a 20-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cedar Grove.
West Essex had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They made easy work of Hanover Park and carried off a 42-14 victory. The West Essex offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Central's loss took them down to 1-1 while West Essex's victory pulled them up to 1-0. In West Essex's victory, senior William Perez punched in 2 rushing TDs and caught passes for 87 yards and senior Nick Celentano rushed for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns. We'll see if Central have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
