After a string of six wins, the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Berkeley. Bishop O'Dowd was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Bishop O'Dowd lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tobias Aisien, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Aisien has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Terrell Gray Jr., who scored six points along with four steals.
Bishop O'Dowd's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7. As for Berkeley, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6.
Bishop O'Dowd won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Modesto Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully the Dragons like a good challenge. As for Berkeley, they will head out on the road to take on the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Castro Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 420th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 86th).
