The Winnebago Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 66-43 defeat at the hands of Pender. Winnebago was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.
Despite the defeat, Winnebago saw an underclassman step up: Braden Brownrigg scored ten points along with four steals. Brownrigg continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachman Free-Bass, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Winnebago were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pender only racked up 19 assists.
Aiden Beckman was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points for Pender. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Alex Roth, who scored 14 points.
Winnebago's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Pender, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
