Desert Hills is 8-2 against Cedar since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Thunder will take on the Reds at 3:00 p.m. Desert Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Desert Hills made easy work of Hurricane and carried off a 14-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Desert Hills got a great performance from Andrew Wiley as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Wiley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Isaac Swanson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jace Fillmore also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Desert Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hurricane only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Cedar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Crimson Cliffs. That's two games in a row now that the Reds have lost by exactly two runs.
Collin Corry led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Krew Giles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Desert Hills' win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Cedar, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Desert Hills hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cedar struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Desert Hills was able to grind out a solid win over Cedar when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
