The Maeser Prep Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 39-21 bruising from American Leadership Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Maeser Prep Academy of the 52-35 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Maeser Prep Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Autumn Dossey. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Dossey is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 14 or more in the last three games she's played. Octavia Mosher was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Ali Decker was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with two steals for American Leadership Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Decker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Frost, who scored five points along with two steals.
Maeser Prep Academy has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for American Leadership Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.
Maeser Prep Academy will head out on the road to challenge Grand County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grand County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for American Leadership Academy, they will be playing at home against Parowan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parowan is coming into the matchup with eight straight wins on the road, so American Leadership Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
