The Manokotak Lynx were handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Koliganek Huskies on Friday. Manokotak blew past the Huskies 48-26. That 22 point margin sets a new team best for Manokotak this season.
Manokotak was led to victory by Kelisha Gloko and Vicki Paul. Gloko scored 21 points, while Paul scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Paul has scored at least a third of Manokotak's points.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kristin Tunguing, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Emily Tunguing, who scored eight points.
Manokotak has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Koliganek, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Manokotak will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Huskies at 10:00 a.m. on January 20th. Koliganek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alaska Rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Lynx are ranked 19th). As for Koliganek, they will look to defend their home court against the Lynx at 10:00 a.m.
