King Cove has been on the road for nine straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. After both having extra time off, they and the Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another on February 16th.
Two weeks ago, King Cove took a serious blow against Susitna Valley, falling 57-22. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points King Cove has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Sand Point entered their tilt with Lumen Christi with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Sand Point came out on top against Lumen Christi by a score of 34-23 two weeks ago.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sand Point to victory, but perhaps none more so than Arianna Wilson, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Wilson hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Misty Marine, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Something new happened two weeks ago as Wilson saw her first action of the season, playing 32 minutes against Lumen Christi. Wilson made the most of the opportunity, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
King Cove's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Sand Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
King Cove lost to Sand Point at home by a decisive 45-31 margin in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wilson, who scored 32 points. Now that King Cove knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
