Paul VI had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Hilton Head Island on Saturday. Paul VI put the hurt on Hilton Head Island with a sharp 14-1 victory. That looming 14-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.
Landon McGinn looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Peltier, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Peltier is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Ryan Bahr was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Paul VI was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Bishop Ireton sidestepped Episcopal for a 4-3 win.
Cash Griffy tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Thomas Foley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Andrew Antonio, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases.
Paul VI is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. The victory got Bishop Ireton back to even at 2-2.
Bishop Ireton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Paul VI has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bishop Ireton, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Paul VI keep running through batters, or will Bishop Ireton buck the trend?
