Commerce managed a 58-54 win over Elbert County. Given Commerce's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Elbert County is ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Malay L miitchell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Jayla Collins was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Commerce and bumps their season record up to 12-7. As for Elbert County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Commerce will take on Athens Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elbert County, they will be playing at home against Rabun County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
