Hudson Falls had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-12 to make it eight. They lost 8-2 to the Amsterdam Rams. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 5-3.
Daniel Carpenter was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brady Smith made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
As for Amsterdam, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
Like Hudson Falls, Amsterdam also got a great game from a two-way player: AJ Lopez. On the mound, Lopez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Christian Perez struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Lopez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lopez went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Perez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave Lopez a new career-high.
In other batting news, Yojanse Rodriguez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Amsterdam: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hudson Falls will challenge rival Glens Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Amsterdam is set to take on their familiar foe Queensbury at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
