The Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Pender by a score of 70-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Wallace-Rose Hill to victory were Irving Brown and Jamarae Lamb. Brown scored 13 points, while Lamb scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Amir Moore, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Pender still got an impressive performance from Cyrus Page, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Hansley, who scored 14 points.
Wallace-Rose Hill's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Pender, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wallace-Rose Hill will take on Kinston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kinston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Wallace-Rose Hill likes a good challenge. As for Pender, they will head out on the road to square off against West Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Columbus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Wednesday.
