The Ripon Indians came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 54-40 win over Hilmar. Given Ripon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Hilmar is ranked 1116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ripon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Baur, who scored eight points along with four steals. Baur hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Landon Gillespie, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Xavier Silveira and juelle lindo certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Silveira scored 14 points, while lindo scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points lindo has scored all season.
Ripon's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-5. As for Hilmar, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Ripon will head out on the road to challenge Riverbank at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverbank is on a four-game streak of home wins, Ripon a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Hilmar will take on Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hughson is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
