The McLeod Longhorns won the last time they faced the Big Sandy Wildcats, and things went their way on Friday too. McLeod managed a 51-47 victory over the Wildcats. Given McLeod's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Wildcats are ranked 1144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrian Petty-johnson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Coleman, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for McLeod and bumps their season record up to 31-3. As for Big Sandy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.
McLeod will head out on the road to take on the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Grove is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Longhorns a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Big Sandy will take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
