The Corner Canyon Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Kankakee on Tuesday as Corner Canyon made off with a 66-41 win. Corner Canyon's win was all the more impressive since Kankakee was averaging only 30 points allowed on the season.
Corner Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elina Mortensen, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mortensen has scored at least 25% of Corner Canyon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maia Rhay, who scored 13 points.
Corner Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Kankakee, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Corner Canyon is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Eastside Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on December 20th. Eastside Catholic is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Kankakee, they will head out on the road to face off against Orange Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
