Rittman is 1-9 against Northwestern since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Indians will take on the Huskies at 6:30 p.m. Rittman will be strutting in after a victory while Northwestern will be coming in after a loss.
On Saturday, Rittman beat East Canton 3-1.
Rittman was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-21, 22-25, 25-13, 25-16.
Mackenzie Beltz went supernova, getting 13 digs, five kills, and two aces. That's the most kills she has posted since back in August of 2024.
Beltz wasn't the only good servers: Rittman was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Northwestern came up short against Waynedale on Thursday and fell 3-1.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16.
Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Rittman, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Rittman has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Northwestern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Rittman skirted past Northwestern 3-2 in their previous meeting on September 4th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
