Basketball Recap: Braden River Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Braden River needed a changed in momentum after dropping 11 straight games and they got it from Anquan Polynice. The Braden River Pirates managed a 61-57 win over the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans on Friday thanks in part to Polynice, who went 10 for 15 en route to 29 points. Those 29 points gave him a new career-high.

Jaron Fields was another key player, putting up five points and five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Jaiden Martin and Kai Brookins certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Martin went 7 of 12 on his way to 21 points, while Brookins went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. Martin continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Antrell Johnson also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Braden River's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Braden River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-46 defeat against Parrish Community on the 14th. Winthrop College Prep Academy has also already played their next game, a 66-65 win against Lennard on the 15th.
