Gardner has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Tyngsborough Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gardner's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Gardner put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Narragansett Regional 52-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Alexavier Figueroa had a dynamite game for Gardner, rushing for 98 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 171 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes. Ayden Sparrow and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Gardner's win.
Meanwhile, Tyngsborough got themselves on the board against Dracut on Friday, but Dracut never followed suit. They blew past the Middies, posting a 42-0 victory at home. Given Tyngsborough's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Dracut is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryce Goulet continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 143 yards and four touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Nicosia, who picked up 115 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Gardner's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. As for Tyngsborough, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Gardner has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tyngsborough struggles in that department as they've been even better at 212.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Gardner was taken down by Tyngsborough 37-8 in their previous matchup back in September of 2018. Thankfully for Gardner, Tucker Carmichael (who threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
