The Marian Mustangs were the 50-42 winner over the St. Mary's Prep Eaglets when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Marian fell just short of St. Mary's Prep by a score of 40-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Marian has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Marian had strong showings from Molly McLeod, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds, and Mckenzie Swanson, who scored 13 points. Swanson scored a full 35.1% of Marian's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Marian's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for St. Mary's Prep, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gabriel Richard at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. St. Mary's Prep will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cabrini at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Cabrini will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while St. Mary's Prep is ranked 17th).
