Softball Recap: Harrison Central Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Harrison Central won the last time they faced East Liverpool and things went their way on Monday too. The Huskies blew past the Potters 10-0. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Mikayla Pelegreen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kelsey Powers, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Harrison Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Liverpool, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison Central will square off against Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.18 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Liverpool, they will take on Wellsville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Potters surely won't give up without a fight.
