AAAAAA Region 7 recap November 19, 2013
Norcross extended the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 7 this week by beating Etowah, 28-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Blue Devils.
Mill Creek was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after a bye. The Hawks came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Jordan Ellis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Peachtree Ridge bested Lassiter. Ellis' favorite target this week was Tyler Campbell, who caught 2 passes for 67 yards.
Ellis was a force in the backfield as the Lions beat the Trojans.
Ellis was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 263 yards on 24 carries as Peachtree Ridge defeated Milton. Na'ceem Antenor also contributed to the rushing game with 30 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Chance Thrasher and Ellis, the Lions have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Thrasher is tops in the league in passing with 2,114 yards, while Ellis has rushed for 1,546 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is the Bulldogs' Brown, with 917 yards on 49 catches.
Going into this week's game against Archer, North Gwinnett's Hayden Sphire needs 14 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 28 touchdowns this year, Sphire has thrown for 1,986 yards with 8 interceptions.
Bob Sphire's team's Brown is only 83 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Tigers. He has recorded 49 catches for 917 yards this year.
Peachtree Ridge took down Lassiter 59-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ellis ran for 263 yards and caught 1 pass for 35 yards during the win.
