The Perry Central Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 68-57 to St. Patrick. While losing is never fun, Perry Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while St. Patrick is ranked 93rd).
Perry Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Bolton, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 38.6% of Perry Central's points, marking the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Austin Jones was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Matt Krass continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Patrick, scoring 39 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Krass has scored at least a third of St. Patrick's points. Another player making a difference was Jack Hewes, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Perry Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for St. Patrick, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.
Perry Central will head out on the road to square off against West Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Marion has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for St. Patrick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tylertown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tylertown is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
