Lincoln East added to the longest winning streak in A District 5 this week by beating Pius X, 31-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Spartans.
Lincoln Southeast and Norfolk played the most contested game in the league this week, with Lincoln Southeast eventually emerging with a 26-20 victory. Luke Gifford threw for 203 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 58 yards during the win.
Sully Zornes made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Thunderbolts fell to Lincoln East. He grabbed 1 sack.
Brady Blazek was the best wideout in the league this week as the Knights beat the Panthers. Blazek racked up 5 receptions for 74 yards. Logan Beebe helped Lincoln Southeast's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 59 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Gifford of Lincoln Southeast is the league leader in passing yards this season with 612. He has also thrown 1 touchdown. The leading receiver in the league this season is Noah Appleget. The Pius X star has 19 catches for 342 yards.
An important game coming up in A District 5 this week will be when John Gingery's team takes on Ryan Gottula's team. As it stands, the Spartans are in first, while the Knights are in fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lincoln East takes on Lincoln Southeast. The Spartans have allowed 54 points this season, while the Knights have given up 109. Lincoln East allowed 6 points last week as it defeated Pius X.
Lincoln Southwest made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,379 from 4,974. The improvement was largely due to a 34-3 victory over Lincoln Northeast last week.
