Los Altos extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 5-0. Everything went their way against the California Condors as they made off with a 52-27 victory. The Conquerors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 25 points or more this season.
DIEGO CASTILLO continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 252 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes, while also punching in one score on the ground. Those 252 passing yards gave him a new career-high. EVAN ROJAS helped CASTILLO out on the ground, picking up 80 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one TD on the ground.
Los Altos didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of BENJAMIN CORTEZ and JOSEPH IBARRA. Los Altos received some extra help from ROJAS, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
As for California, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Los Altos: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Condors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Robledo, who rushed for 123 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. California is 2-1 when Robledo posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Brian Padilla was another key player, rushing for 101 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Los Altos will take on South Hills at 1:00 p.m. on October 4. This will be the Conquerors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for California, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off.
