The Rialto Knights will venture away from home to take on the Colton Yellowjackets at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, Rialto needed a bit of extra time to put away Bloomington. They had just enough and edged out the Bruins 6-5.
Izzeah Zepeda was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Isaac Carrillo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Zepeda wasn't the only one making solid contact: Rialto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Colton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Carter on Friday.
Samuel Ruiz looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chris Trevino, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Colton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.
Rialto's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Colton, their record now sits at 8-10.
Colton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rialto hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for Colton, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Rialto's hitters?
Rialto skirted past Colton 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
