Basketball Recap: Desert Chapel Beats Joshua Springs Christian for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Desert Chapel had won five straight games and Jayvon Garcia did his part to make it six on Tuesday. The Desert Chapel Eagles blew past the Joshua Springs Christian Lightning 65-6 thanks in part to Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Hyunseo, who posted six points and five steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in January.

Desert Chapel pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 58 points. As for Joshua Springs Christian, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Desert Chapel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-36 defeat against Cathedral City on the 19th. As for Joshua Springs Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Palm Valley at 3:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Palm Valley's defense has only allowed 18.2 points per game this season, so Joshua Springs Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
