Baseball Recap: Lexington Catholic's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Lexington Catholic waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Bishop Brossart Mustangs. Considering the Knights have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Owen Jenkins was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Wasik, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Lexington Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Lexington Catholic pushed their record up to 17-7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Brossart, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Looking ahead, Lexington Catholic will venture away from home to challenge Lafayette at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Brossart, they will challenge George Rogers Clark at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
