Meek is 8-1 against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Meek Tigers will welcome the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Meek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
While Meek's victory against Addison wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Meek had just enough and edged out Addison 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Kaydence Cox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Cox was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carmyn Daugherty, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Anna Collins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Decatur Heritage Christian Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Athens Bible on Tuesday and fell 6-5.
Allie Tidwell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyuh Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9-1. As for Meek, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Meek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Decatur Heritage Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Meek skirted past Decatur Heritage Christian Academy 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Meek repeat their success, or does Decatur Heritage Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
