The Madison Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Reagan by a score of 47-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madison in their matchups with the Rattlers: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nadia Bailey. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Bailey hasn't dropped below 17 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Castleberry, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Madison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reagan only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Renata Parga was nothing short of spectacular for Reagan: she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sahara Green, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Madison has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-21 record this season. As for Reagan, their victory bumped their record up to 19-15.
Madison will square off against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Marshall is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Reagan, they will head out on the road to challenge the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 353 points over their last six matchups.
