The Cactus Cobras entered their tilt with the Desert Edge Scorpions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cactus managed a 33-27 victory over Desert Edge on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cactus also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cactus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julian Stubblefield, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Nikko Boncore-montoya was another key contributor, gaining 109 total yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Desert Edge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hezekiah Millender. Despite the final result, he rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaqua Anderson, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cactus has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Desert Edge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
Cactus will head out on the road to face off against Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Millennium is ranked 38th, while Cactus is ranked 29th). As for Desert Edge, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Verrado at 7:00 p.m. Verrado is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
