The Luverne Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Zion Chapel Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Luverne, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-41 loss to Highland Home.
Meanwhile, Zion Chapel earned a 59-48 win over Goshen on Thursday. Given Zion Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Goshen is ranked 426th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Slade Grantham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Zion Chapel's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Chestnut, who scored 19 points.
Luverne's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Zion Chapel, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Luverne beat Zion Chapel 50-41 in their previous matchup last Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Luverne since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
