The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 55-45 victory over Broome. Given Blue Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Centurions are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zikira henderson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with five steals. Henderson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Anyah Henderson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Broome lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anaya Wofford, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamya Wilkins, who scored six points along with three steals.
Blue Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Broome, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will square off against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Carolina Academy: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while the Fighting Tigers have snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. As for Broome, they will face off against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Woodruff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Tuesday.
