Mound City/Craig's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 57-46 to Worth County. While losing is never fun, Mound City/Craig can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Tigers are ranked 160th).
Worth County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler New led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. New hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb New, who scored 13 points.
Mound City/Craig dropped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Worth County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Mound City/Craig won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Rock Port focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday. As for Worth County, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Knights at 7:30 p.m.
