The Alexander Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Paulding County 79-33 on the road. Given Alexander's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Paulding County is ranked 456th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Alexander to victory were Braedan Lue and Gregory Dunson. Lue scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds, while Dunson scored 19 points. The matchup was Lue's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Allen Stoddard was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 11 rebounds and 5 steals.
Alexander's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Paulding County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Alexander will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against New Manchester at 7:30 p.m. As for Paulding County, they will head out on the road to face off against Hillgrove at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hillgrove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 540 points over their last eight games.
