The Chillicothe Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season. They blew past Southeast 52-29. Given Chillicothe's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Southeast is ranked 441st), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chillicothe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Mathew led the charge by scoring 14 points. The contest was Mathew's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sol'jier Allen, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Chillicothe's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.33 points. As for Southeast, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-10 record last season and are now at 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chillicothe will be home for the holidays to greet Parkview at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Parkview knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Chillicothe likes a good challenge. As for Southeast, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Warrenton on December 20th. Warrenton is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
