Sydney Semans was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madyson Jade Quintanilla was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Maggie Bergesen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
South San Francisco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only posted a batting average of .083.
Meanwhile, El Camino didn't have quite enough to beat Castilleja on Wednesday and fell 9-7. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alyssa Rueda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Juliana Bazlamit was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Jenna Bollentini also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
El Camino's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for South San Francisco, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.
El Camino's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South San Francisco hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. It's a different story for El Camino, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain South San Francisco's hitters?
South San Francisco came up short against El Camino in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 10-6. Can South San Francisco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
