If Upland wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Chino Hills, they should've done a better job of containing Yanizza Gutierrez. The Huskies walked away with a 3-1 win over the Highlanders/Scots on Thursday with plenty of help from Gutierrez, who had 17 digs and nine aces. Taylor is also on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last nine games she's played.
Chino Hills had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-12.
Chino Hills found their leader in sophomore Gutierrez, who had 17 digs and nine aces. Elise Leung also set a new season-high mark in assists with 17.
They weren't the only good servers: Chino Hills was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.
Los Osos' record now sits at 19-5. As for Chino Hills, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Everything went Los Osos' way against Chino Hills when the teams last played back in September, as Los Osos made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
