Greenbrier West hasn't had much luck against Nicholas County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will venture away from home to challenge the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Greenbrier West will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Greenbrier West turned things around against River View on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Raiders. The Cavaliers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 18-2).

Scott McClung made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Greenbrier West got a big performance out of Landen Doss, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Doss has posted since back in May of 2024. Logan Andrews also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Greenbrier West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River View only posted an OBP of .423.
Meanwhile, Nicholas County might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Sissonville who claimed the real prize. The Grizzlies fell 8-5 to the Indians. The loss continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.
Nicholas County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Burns, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Burns is becoming a predictor of the Grizzlies' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't).
Nicholas County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Greenbrier West, their record is now 6-11.
Greenbrier West couldn't quite finish off Nicholas County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
