Alameda and Castro Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Hornets will face off against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Alameda barely beat Bishop O'Dowd the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Dragons a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Hornets have beaten the Dragons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.

Julia Lambert
05/02/25 vs Bishop O'Dowd | 6 |
04/30/25 vs San Leandro | 8 |
04/28/25 @ California | 5 |
04/23/25 @ Arroyo | 11 |
04/21/25 @ Mt. Eden | 10 |
The result came thanks to Julia Lambert's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mia Wong and Aaliyah Soderlund did most of the damage at the plate: Wong went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Soderlund went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most doubles Wong has posted since back in March. Miley Gradney was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Castro Valley waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Jets with a sharp 12-6 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Alanys Robertson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Alicya Robertson was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Giselle De Casas, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Castro Valley pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Alameda, their record now sits at 13-8-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alameda hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Castro Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .389. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
