The Simeon Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Jones Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Simeon has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Simeon lost 12-6 to Brooks on Tuesday.
Ameer Rule made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Al Never, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Jones had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Sun Warriors. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 22, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Madden Asbaty was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Renzo Sansonetti, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Jones' record now sits at 15-6. As for Simeon, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 12-7.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Simeon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Jones struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Simeon got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Jones by a conclusive 8-1 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
