Traverse City Central extended the longest winning streak in Big North this week by beating Cadillac, 42-21. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Ogemaw Heights was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Falcons triumphed over Alpena 42-13.
Ogemaw Heights' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ben Hartley threw for 158 and one touchdown and Jerome Hunter had 159 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Benac chipped in 185 yards. Josh Awrey helped Ogemaw Heights' passing attack out by catching one ball for 50 yards.
Ogemaw Heights' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hartley has thrown for 778 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Hunter has 16 catches for 430 yards. Benac leads the league in rushing with 1263 yards.
Traverse City West made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,723 from 2,799. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 44-13 victory over Adrian last week.
