The Kali Wolverines kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a rough 55-19 loss at the hands of Alak. Kali was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-4.
Alak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paul Okpeaha, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Henry, who scored 16 points.
Kali's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Alak, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Nunamiut the next time they take the court. Kali will head out to face Nunamiut at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, while Alak will head out to face them at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
