Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Mooresville Pioneers walked away with it. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory 40-39. Winning may never get old, but Mooresville sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
It was another big night for Hogan Denny, who rushed for 239 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns. Denny's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Kaden Bruhn also helped out with an impressive 88 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is CJ Harris. Despite the final result, he rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown. Harris has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maverick Geske, who threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Mooresville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Mooresville will head out on the road to face off against New Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Palestine will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
