The Westlake Warriors will square off against the Marina Vikings at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Westlake sitting on four straight victories and Marina on six.
Westlake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Kennedy.
Presley Watters spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kira Palmer, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Penelope Yeomans was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Marina never let their opponents score on Saturday. They came out on top against Yorba Linda by a score of 4-0.
Halle Piramo was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Kim, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Marina's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-13. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Westlake, their victory bumped their record up to 19-13.
Westlake might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Marina in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
